The
Story.
Nawala → Curtin → Industry → Monash
Started Mechatronics Engineering at Curtin University Colombo after completing A Levels early. From the beginning, I focused on practical engineering work across robotics, embedded systems, and control systems, spending most of my time building and testing real hardware rather than only studying theory.
My final year project was SMARTNAV, an autonomous wheelchair system that combined LiDAR based mapping, SLAM for localisation, depth sensing for obstacle detection, and eye movement control through EOG signals to assist navigation in indoor environments. The system was developed as a full engineering stack and later exhibited at Sahasak Nimavum 2025.
Alongside university, I worked on a mix of automation systems, embedded hardware development, software tools, and applied engineering projects across different domains including industrial and creative work. I am continuing my studies at Monash University in 2026 through a Masters of Advanced Engineering.
